Iceland's Oscar committee selects Runar Runarsson’s debut feature Volcano to represent Iceland in the Foreign Language Oscar race.

Theódór Júlíusson stars as an elderly man learning new things about life following his retirement.

Thorir Sigurjonsson and Skuli Malmquist produced for Iceland’s Zik Zak, with Egil Dennerline for Denmark’s Fine and Mellow. The project had funding from the Icelandic Film Centre, New Danish Screen, Nordic Film and TV Fond and the Icelandic Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

The film had its world premiere in Cannes Directors Fortnight
